With the cold weather finally upon us, I’m sure we are all finally ready to ditch the denim shorts and start stocking our wardrobe’s up with lovely warm cosy jumpers. I’ve put together a list of my top 10 Autumn/Winter19 wardrobe essentials that I think you will definitely be needing this season to stay on track with the trends! Make people envious of your fabulous closet this winter!
1. Long Trench Coat
A trend that was adopted late last year in the winter season so no doubt it is going to be a huge hit this year! I would say that a nude/sand colour is going to be the most popular this season, with most clothing being quite muted in colour. I have seen some Khaki too and they look lovely, very different to most winter coats we have seen recently. I love a trench coat, they are so wearable and easy to dress up/down, but if they aren’t for you just a long unstructured coat wouldn’t go a miss!
2. Leather Joggers
These are going to be everywhere, we saw leather trousers fly out of the shops last winter so I’m excited for them to continue being such a staple item in your wardrobe. With a change of shape and being more of a tracksuit/jogger style, these will be so easy to wear day-to-day with an oversized t-shirt tucked in and some trainers, or ready for a night out with a crop or bodysuit and some heels!
3. Straight Leg Jeans
With boyfriend jeans being the trend of Summer its nice to see another shape of jean take over! I love straight leg jeans, they look gorgeous when you pair them with an oversized blazer and some strappy heels, you simply can’t go wrong! A blue wash will make more of an appearance I predict as we normally see, but a grey/light black wash would look amazing with a white chunky buttoned cardigan and some boots.
4. Biker Boots
You will have seen these everywhere over Instagram as we head into Autumn…. I think these boots are great, especially as there are so many different variations of them. I particularly like the ones where they are really chunky at the sole and are lace ups, these would look amazing with a lovely turtle neck jumper dress with a thick belt – anything with tights. These boots make outfits!
5. Satin Oversized Shirts
Who wouldn’t love just a wardrobe full of beautifully coloured satin shirts?! Pair them with jeans, smart trousers, knitted or cotton maxi skirts, you’re golden! These are so comfy and make you look a million dollars, when really they are probably the most easiest thing to throw on! My favourite colour of these which I think will be the same for most is Champagne, so beautiful and compliments most completions!
6. Chunky Knit
You know where to find these ….. Zara! This is really a trend every winter but we won’t be sad about that! Not much needs to be said about these, the chucky and bigger the better sums it up really. Again I think the more muted colours are going to be most popular, with the greys and the beige’s.
7. Knitted Maxi Dress
I had a few of these last year but only jumped on this trend at the very last minute, so ecstatic that these are going to be a huge hit again. I love turtle necks and dresses with leg splits so glad that these will be high on trend. These dresses look amazing with croc print ankle boots or big chunky trainers. Partner these dresses up with a belt bag to transform the look into a more street-ware vibe.
8. Knee High Leather Boots
You’ve probably seen these all over Instagram too, especially with Molly-Mae’s new PLT launch and this being a key trend amongst the looks. This is a trend that I love and am totally on board with, I think these will be vastly popular especially during Christmas party season! Pair up with a blazer dress or a mini knitted dress and you are set to be the coolest colleague at the party!
9. Jewelled Padded Headband
Cute cute cute! These headbands are just beautiful, so many different colours, patterns and jewels! These just scream glamour and are a good way to clam down an outfit if you were wanting to bring a more causal everyday vibe to something that might be seen as quite dressy. I think that they are so pretty, and I’m so glad now that headbands aren’t just seen as a girly kiddy accessory… now we can all enjoy them!
10. Long Knitted Cardigan
Cardigans are a classic, now they are an absolute staple in your wardrobe this AW. Jeans, skirts, dresses, pair a long chunky cardi with any of these and not only stay warm during the cold weather but look your best and channel your inner fashionista!
These are my 10 essentials that I think you need this AW19! Hopefully this will be a good guide for most of you thinking of getting some new bits but not sure where to start ….. xoxo
